I was meeting my friend Mark, but I arrived WAY too early — so I decided to grab a coffee. I then sat by the window of the shop, opened my sketchbook, and looked out. Across the way, the windows of the old Cooper Union building seemed so still and quiet compared to the winter rush-hour scramble of Astor Place. I made a note to remind me to do a painting of those windows.
